| Client | George Leslie Ltd | Date | 2006/7 | Project Value | £1.4M | Project Description | This project involved the development of a disused industrial site for housing with the main elements comprising:
The earthworks involved the excavation, reprocessing and deposition of 280,000cum of material across the site, all under a rigorous testing and analysis regime to identify contaminated hydrocarbon ‘hotspots’ for off-site disposal. Old concrete slabs and foundations were broken out, with the material crushed and screened for reuse as granular fill. The site was underlain by a significant number of abandoned coal mine workings which required extensive grouting in the order of 30,000t. The site drainage works incorporated extensive SUDS measures. Infilling earthworks included the formation of low-lying detention ponds and lagoons with central discharge drainage channels discharging through soakaways. The works also incorporated twin 1800mm diameter stormwater attenuation sewers to provide run off storage. |
