History

M K Leslie was started by Keith Leslie in April 1983 with only one excavator mainly focussed on Agricultural Contracting, hill, roads drainage etc.

MK Leslie History MK Leslie History Zoom 18 months later due to increased demand and workload a second machine was bought, mainly again focussing on agricultural contracting.

From this the company got more involved in construction and civil engineering. The first significant contract M K Leslie acquired was in 1989 working as sub contractor to Hunter Construction Aberdeen Ltd on the A970 Cunningsburgh road improvements scheme, the success of this contract lead to further road improvement contracts throughout Shetland with major Companies such as Hunter Construction Ltd, R J Mcleod Contractors Ltd, and the Shetland Islands Council, plus contracts that M K Leslie won as main contractors.

In 1996 M K Leslie ltd started operating on the Scottish mainland with a base in Inverness. After the establishment of a secondary office on the mainland, M K Leslie was able to acquire a number of contracts on the mainland with companies such as Balfour Beatty, Morrison Construction Ltd, R J McLeod Contractors ltd, Forestry Commission, George Leslie Ltd, Robertson Construction Ltd, McInnis Construction and many more.

M K Leslie has seen steady growth ever since with company now operating 50+ construction machines, 20+ Road haulage vehicles and 10+ Crushers and 7 Screening plants and employing 60+ staff directly with various sub contractors as required.
